About The Colony
The Colony was developed primarily in the late 1970s through 1990s, which places much of its housing stock in the polybutylene pipe era and early PEX transition. The city's position between Frisco and Carrollton on SH-121 means it shares plumbing characteristics with both: established neighborhoods in the south and east that see aging pipe issues, and the newer sections near the Frisco border that are more recent construction.
The Colony sits near the Lewisville Lake shoreline on its western edge, adding soil moisture variation on top of the standard Blackland Prairie clay that covers most of the 75056 ZIP. Slab movement is a factor here, and we get consistent leak and sewer line calls from The Colony's 1980s neighborhoods.
The Colony is served by the North Texas Municipal Water District — moderately hard water typical for the region.
